thought #169- love is not the absence of hate

it's the absence of fear.

Day 7: A photo of someone you love

to be honest, there isn't a lot of people i truly wholeheartedly love. i know that sounds monstrous and horrible but it's true. i mean of course i adore my friends and favourites but at the end of the day if someone were to ask me who i, apart from God, unconditionally love, sacrifice myself for it would be my parents. i mean yes we get into a lot of shit and arguments and sometimes they drive me insane (though i suspect the feeling is mutual) they have loved me (by default) ever since i came into this world and i know whatever happens they will never cease to. these are the people i can trust, who look out for me, who try to understand me, who want what's best for me even if i can't see the benefit. at the end of the day these are the two who would dive in front of a bullet for me. i'm there one and only and i love them immensely.

it kind of saddens me when i hear kids saying how much they hate their parents, and i mean yes there are times when their stubborn, tough love makes you want to punch someone in the face, but your parents are the only ones you've got. you don't get a second pair. i say make the most of what you've got. love what you have. see things from their perspective and even at the points you disagree, respect the difference. i hate to sound like im lecturing, because i'm far from the perfect example of how to be an immaculate child, i just know there's no gain in being depressed and distant with your parents. i've tried it before and being angry is just shit. you don't gain anything being the "misunderstood" immature delinquent. i know, i know cheesedick suck up spiel. but it's the truth. until i find a man who is synonymous with love, the closest platonic thing i've got are my two old farts. bless them.

love,

thought #124- wedding anniversaries

Day 04- A photo you took
i actually didn't take this photo today. it was actually last tuesday. nevertheless, i personally believe, it's an important photo. apart from the fact that it magnifies that physical skews of my old fart parents and their penchant for growing sideways over the years and losing the visual gusto that they might have once possessed, the fact that they can stand next to each other nineteen years after saying "i do" still brings me to a  place of confident awe. i mean they love to beat the shit out of each other verbally, they argue, they tease, they complain in bed, they snuggle (puke), they amuse each other and despite their flaws they can wake up next to each other and repeat the quotidian routine of life simply because they love each other.

they don't say it often. they don't even show it very well. but the evidence that they are still together in a world where everything regarding tomorrow is an uncertain relationship, assures me that they still do love each other. i hope to replicate my folks one day (not physically for the love of God haha), but relationally definitely. i want to find a man that can annoy the shit out of me and yet still want no one else to spoon each night. someone who will see my beauty underneath all that weight gain and white hair. someone who will stand by me even after the infatuation phase is over. someone worth celebrating a wedding anniversary with. so i guess i didn't just take a photo of my folks. nor did i take a photo commemorating a celebratory moment. i infact took a photo of history. an evidence that the world still knows what love is.

love.

thought # 15- hoola hooping is not dead

just ask my parents. they are convinced after reading an article regarding this woman who (with the contribution of a healthy diet, other forms of exercise and inhumane amounts of self-control) dropped 3-4 dress sizes by hoola hooping everyday. so after this inspiring article, they bought a hoola hoop at crazy petes and have now added to their regime of walking together everyday by hoola hooping.

as a mere spectator and encourager (this title is questionable) i must say that their practise of the art of maintaining a circular ring across your hips for as long as you can is hilarious. it is so entertaining, watching as my parents in all their adorableness, jiggle their way through lovehandles and watch as they perspire in an attempt to keep this single hoop around their body. its like watching the olympics. you feel the pressure and the dissapointment each time the hoop hits the ground, you sense the unspoken competition between the two and most of all you witness the moments of glory as they break their previous personal bests and congratulate through laughter as they rub their bruised knees and sore backs. it really is a sport.

im still trying to convince them to buy another and go tandem hoola hooping, but they don't believe they're at that stage yet. all this twisting and twirling and exercise makes me wish that i had actually learnt how to hoola hoop in my younger years. but being the lazy resident of our humble abode, i prefer watching and exploding with laughter at witnessing my parents exercise regimes. however i have a good feeling that it will no longer be funny when they eventually drop a few dress sizes and look amazing, having mastered the art of hoola hooping. whilst i remain uneducated and far from being in shape haha.

love

N.B. i can't find the camera but as soon as i do i shall post a picture of the infamous hoola hoop.
p.s. if my parents end up reading this, im sorry for revealing your personal exclusive exercise regime. you're still pretty cool.
